Spectrum Inspired

In 2016 I was personally tagged in a Facebook status asking for anyone interested in a new project/community that was being set up to provide free photo sessions to families touched by Autism Spectrum conditions. It was then just the start to what has flourished into a beautiful new community based in America.

One of the lovely founders, (Jamie) and I got talking about our families, values and life in general and despite being across the seas from the project she asked me to join.. I feel incredibly honoured and humbled to be the first UK Spectrum Inspired photographer and can't thank Jamie enough for her push and support to join. Since then I have now joined as an Ambassador for Spectrum Inspired too and adore the community the Spectrum Inspired founders have built.

Spectrum Inspired's mission statement

"It is our mission to give families a platform to voice their struggles, celebrate their victories and share their story; all the while, removing the stigma and stereotypes of what is thought to be representative of Autism and show the world just how broad and beautiful the spectrum is."

As a mum of three spectrum children myself I know only too well the necessity of having someone who understands the struggles many face with bringing up a child with extra needs. Life is not always easy but having someone not only understand but be able to help provide images that capture the true essence of our children is something I believe with my whole heart is just what the world needs. Raising awareness as we go to enlighten the world around us on how beautiful and broad the spectrum is.
